World of Outlaws Late Models, Super DIRTcar Series Big-Blocks close out two-week event
BARBERVILLE, Fla. — Feb. 23, 2013 — Darrell Lanigan and Brett Hearn won two thrillers Saturday night to close out the 2013 UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment in front of a huge crowd at Volusia Speedway Park.
Lanigan, the defending World of Outlaws Late Model Series champion, outdueled Tim McCreadie and Josh Richards in the 50-lapper to win for the first time at Volusia Speedway Park. Richards tried to close the gap down the stretch but Lanigan was too strong, winning by .990.
“I changed my line around a bunch down in three and four to try and get good,” said Lanigan, of Union, Ky. “For the last five laps I found a pretty good line right through the middle there. My car was awesome there and we were able to hold on. I got to thank my crew. They worked hard all week to put this car back together (after a Tuesday-night crash). We put it on the jig to straighten it out and it was awesome tonight.”

Last Race of UNOH DIRTcar Nationals presented by Summit Keeps Fans on Their Feet
BARBERVILLE, Fla. - Feb. 23, 2013 - When Brett Hearn wins, he wins with style. His victory yesterday at the Super DIRTcar Series UNOH DIRTcar Nationals presented by Summit Racing Equipment finale at Volusia Speedway Park was nothing short.
Not only did Big Block Modified star Hearn usurp the lead in lap 49 of the 50-lap race, but he did so after a flat in lap 35 took him from the lead to the tail of the field.
"At that point, the crew had a really dejected look on their faces," Hearn recalled pulling up to his pit crew for a tire change. "They were changing the right rear tire, and I'm thinking, they think I don't have a chance."

The defending WoO LMS champion outdueled Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y., to assume command for good on lap 17, but he was challenged repeatedly during the race's second half by both McCreadie and Josh Richards of Shinnston, W.Va., before pulling away following a final caution flag on lap 41.
Richards never seriously threatened Lanigan over the last nine circuits, crossing the finish line 0.990 of a second behind the victor.
